A little bit of everything…

Good morning. Today’s supposed to be the last beautiful day here in the Pacific Northwest until next Spring. We’ll see about that, seems a little early to be saying that. I was surfing the Columbia River Bar Pilots website, and one picture really shows how rough the Bar can be in winter.

I’ve been keeping an eye on El Hierro volcano in the Canaries Islands. The activity   over there seems to be slowing down a bit. Cleveland Volcano in Alaska’s Aleutian Islands seems to continue to build a lava dome, which is making the Alaska Volcano Observatory a bit nervous, they are wondering if it will fail in a huge slide down the mountain, which in return, could trigger a size-able eruption. Russia’s Shiveluch volcano on the Kamchatka Peninsula is having a grand old eruption. Depending on what news source you follow, the eruption plume is/was anywhere between 10 to 20 miles tall.

The Earth had a size-able quake also. Papua New Guinea experienced  a magnitude 6.0 quake today (October 18th), which is expected to cause minor damage.
